Updated Radeon software, now no more mining?

EDIT: non-whql-radeon-software-adrenalin-2020-21.5.2-win10-64bit-may17 is the stable version for TMR. Got my card a week ago, so I still had this in my download queue. Works perfect now!

So my Radeon software gave me an option to update, which immediately stopped my mining on TMR, Nicehash also didnt function. I uninstalled the 21.6.2 driver and installed 21.6.1 driver again, yet no dice. Without the driver, it seems to mine, but at 43 instead of 47 and at 80 degrees. So i had to shut the pc without mining for a while.

Any idea what is the steady version of AMD for mining? and what i can do?

What do you think?

  1. There is a golden rule of update which is
Updates = new features better patched
Not update = for better stability

I am currently working on 10 different pcs some of them running windows xp and some of them running win10 21h1 so updates are always prone to break stability try always to setup your system more stable and choose stable version of apps and then do not run any updates

  2. So glad my mining rig is based on Linux (MMPOS) and not Windows.

MMPOS has fantastic features and stability. And when updates are available for either the MMPOS mining OS or TeamRedMiner they have been fully tested before released so they are seamlessly installed without any hiccups or headaches.

Previously in 2020 on Windows I had nothing but problems mining on the exact same hardware.

A mining rig that has either performance issues or stability issues or just can’t keep running at 100% up-time is a rig that is ineffective in it’s primary purpose MINING.

  3. There doesn’t exist a single driver developer who cares about mining performance, so this shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone. After all, we’re talking the most useless use case for a GPU.

Don’t expect fixes in future driver releases. Improving/fixing mining performance is a waste of time for the engineers at AMD.
